Bringing together the best of both worlds, The Walt Disney Studios and UTV Motion Pictures have formed one of the leading film studios in India whose activities span across creative development, production, marketing, distribution, licensing, merchandising and syndication of films in India and worldwide.

The Hollywood slate at the Studios has been extremely impressive and set newer benchmarks in the country. In 2016, our Hollywood films were watershed moments for the Studios and industry at large. Disney’s The Jungle Book turned out to be a truly triumphant film as it set records at many levels. For the first time in India a Hollywood film grossed more money at the Box Office than many local A-lister films. Today, The Jungle Book is the Highest Grossing Hollywood film ever in India and 8th Highest Grossing movie of All Time in India (including Hindi titles)! Earlier in 2016, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil Warhad a blockbuster run at the box-office and entered the top 10 of the highest grossing Hollywood releases in India. Disney.Pixar’s Finding Dory, a sequel to 2003’s award-winning Finding Nemo, became the 7th highest Animation Movie of all time in India in just 12 days! The film has taken the position of the Highest Grossing Disney.Pixar film of all time in India! In the past, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron grossed huge numbers at the box office, making it one of the top 5 Hollywood grossers of all time in India. In 2015, for the first time in the history of Pixar films, Disney.Pixar released two 3D animation features, Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur. When it released, Inside Out became the Highest Disney.Pixar grosser in India and also went on to win the Oscars in the Best Animation Movie category and Zootopia is the second biggest Disney.Pixar animation grosser in India.

The Studio has been churning out diverse Hindi films for all section of the audience in the recent past under UTV and now Disney. In 2014, we made our first Disney branded film, Khoobsurat, followed by ABCD 2in 2015. Both films did record-breaking business at the box-office. Two more Disney branded films are yet to release, Dangal and Jagga Jasoos. Meanwhile, UTV Motion Pictures has been a dominant player in the Indian film industry and has been in the forefront of bringing Indian films to a global audience. In the last decade, UTV has delivered some of the most iconic films including Rang De Basanti, Jodhaa Akbar, A Wednesday, Dev D, Khosla Ka Ghosla, The Namesake, Life in a Metro, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Fashion, Kaminey, No One Killed Jessica, Udaan, Delhi Belly, Paan Singh Tomar, Rowdy Rathore, Barfi!, AnyBody Can Dance (ABCD), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ship of Theseus, Chennai Express, The Lunchbox, Shahid, Kick, Highway, 2 States, Heropanti, Haider, and more recently Baaghi and PK, the latter is today, the Highest Grossing Hindi Film of All Time In India.

The Studio has to its credit 4 films in the last 10 years that have been selected to represent India at the Academy awards; Rang De Basanti (2006), Harishchandrachi Factory (2009), Peepli Live (2010) and Barfi! (2012). UTV has a library of over 100 films which have been showcased in over 50 festivals across 60 countries, receiving almost 450 awards in the last 11 years which also includes 35 National Awards.

Disney Media Distribution distributes more than 30,000 hours of programming in multiple languages to over 1,300 platform partners in 240 territories worldwide. In India, DMD works closely with Indian broadcasters and partners to provide international content which appeals to local audiences.
